Historic Renovated Cottage, sleeps up to 6 This 2-bedroom sunny cottage - originally built as a schoolhouse in 1847 and completely renovated in 2013- sleeps up to six people and provides guests a getaway on a 120-acre farm. The cottage works well for friends' reunions, families with children, and as a peaceful, romantic escape. Writers have used the cottage for quiet inspiration. Climbers and hikers use it as a base for getting to the Cliffs and Mohonk Preserve. Inside the Schoolhouse, the clean cozy design will leave you rested. Windows and skylights light the great, wood-beamed room where there is a pull out double couch, a renovated eat-in kitchen, and a dining table for six. The kitchen has cooking utensils, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The Cottage has cable, a flat screen, Blu Ray, and WIFI. The Master bedroom looks out on the farm and the second bedroom has twins that can be pushed together to make a king. There is an in-between room that has a stackable washer/dryer and an additional single bed. There are clean linens, towels, and fresh soap. Just outside the Schoolhouse, guests enjoy using a Weber Grill for barbecues, sitting on Adirondack chairs and taking in the farmscape acres. Depending on instructors' availability, guests can arrange to take beginning and advanced English riding lessons in our year-round, indoor riding barn or outdoors as they look up at the Shawangunk cliffs. Whether you ride or not, you're sure to enjoy walking the carriage trails, meeting the donkeys, ponies, and horses. Amateur photographers will love how the sun lights the farm the mountains, and the animals, etc. The Cottage is a perfect location to enjoy the Hudson Valley. It is less than 5 minutes to the Mohonk Preserve trailheads and less than 10 minutes to Main Street in New Paltz and to the Village of Gardiner. There is a great variety of nearby restaurants, shopping and fun things to do.
